GUIDE

Tips for enjoying the baths

Mild salt springs are relatively gentle even for longer soaks. Stay hydrated. Pat yourself dry thoroughly after — it helps the warming effect last longer.

The story of Ohiradai's spring

Ohiradai is one of several onsen towns along the Hakone Tozan Railway. Its mildly saline (chloride) spring is prized as a 'warming bath' — the mineral content coats the skin, retaining body heat long after you step out.

The community bath Hime-no-Yu is just 3 minutes' walk — a sign of how richly this land is blessed with hot water. Masutomi Ryokan draws from the same deep source.
