5 min taxi from Gora Station Irori hearth & kamado cuisine 3 private baths (natural flow) In-room dining, all rooms

In Gora's shade,
an inn of smoke and fire.

Rikyuan is a hidden inn shaped by the wabi aesthetic of tea master Sen no Rikyu — stripped of the unnecessary, leaving only what matters.
An irori hearth and kamado fire burn quietly at the center.

Charyou cuisine mirrors the spirit of the tea ceremony in food — irori-grilled fish and vegetables, rice carefully cooked in a kamado. Skill applied in service of the ingredient, not the technique.

Three private baths: Rikyu-no-yu (indoor), Wabi-no-yu (semi-outdoor), and Jaku-no-yu (outdoor cottage). Sodium bicarbonate spring, natural flow. In-room dining and natural bathing, wrapped in Gora's mountain quiet.

Four things only a small inn can offer.

Family-scale closeness over hotel-scale convenience.

Grilled over irori fire,
cooked in a kamado.

Rikyuan's charyou cuisine begins at the irori hearth — vegetables and fish grilled over live charcoal, rice cooked in a traditional kamado. Everything made by hand.

All rooms dine in. The scent of charcoal arrives with the dishes.

Frequently asked questions.

What are 'irori' and 'okudo-san'?

An irori is a sunken hearth in the floor — used to grill fish and vegetables over charcoal. Okudo-san (kamado) is a traditional clay rice cooker. Very few inns still use both.

Do you accept solo travelers?

Of course. Solo guests can enjoy in-room dining and all three private baths. You're very welcome.

Can children stay?

Yes, children are welcome. The irori and kamado are working kitchen spaces, so viewing is outside cooking hours.

Can we use the private baths multiple times?

Unlimited use during your stay, with no time limit per session. Tell us your preferences at check-in.

Is there Wi-Fi?

Free Wi-Fi in all rooms. Signal may occasionally fluctuate due to our hillside location.
